My definition of family is a support system that helps each other through the good & bad times, healthy or unhealthy times, where everyone is accountable and where sorry is said, acceptance is given freely, personal growth is the goal, individuality is encouraged, leaving the family & coming back is always welcomed, interdependence is the norm, equally independent members but depending on each other for community & LOVE.
What do you do when your family's definition of family is different from yours?
We are born into a tribe that we are taught to depend on, who we are related to by adoption, blood & bones...who hopefully we CAN relate to!
At any given time there can be a difference of what WE think family should be and what it actually IS.
At what point is it okay to detach from your family with love?
If you got bullied at school would you hang out with those people? If they called you names? Accused you of doing something you did not do, would you hang out with them anymore? Probably not...So why are you asked to withstand more pain BECAUSE it's your family?
Today, think lovingly & clearly of your family members. Which family members lift you up?! Now imagine yourself being cradled by them :) Which family members make you feel not so good? Now imagine yourself hugging them, forgiving them & then let them GO!
Are YOU being a good tribesman?! Be honest with yourself & take account: Who needs and deserves TLC?! Go call your Mother!!! ;)
Now Sit down & pray for all of the living members of your family & ask for loving guidance from the deceased members of your family to help make a cohesive loving family unit.
God Bless to you & your family!
