Day 5 of Gay Pride Week at God Save This Queen!

Today, is about this:

There are ZERO scriptures where Jesus says ANYTHING against being Gay!!!

So how can anyone use the bible to oppose same sex marriage?


& If we are using the bible as a reason for Not being Allowed to marry same sexes, then I say Let's follow EVERY rule in that bible scripture sited!

Only seems fair, right?

Let's begin by devising a plan for our new life:

Step 1: Give up Bacon
Step 2: no Red Lobster
Step 3: no tattoos (If you have one already, better carve it off quickly!)
Step 4: no Sunday Football! Bc man is not allowed to touch the skin of Pork AND Sunday is the day of Sabbath.
Step 5: Stop drinking your beloved Bud Light-Or else you are officially a "Drunkard"
Step 6: Ever cheated on your wife or husband? Had sex on your period?-You are officially an "Adulterer & unclean!!!
Step 7: Stolen anything?...This includes illegal music downloads & grapes at the grocery store- If you answered yes, you are officially a "Thief"
Step 8: Gossip?-..."Slanderer"!
Step 9: Slaughter your food in a temple? Uh..oh better start eating Kosher!
Step 10: Wear mixed blends clothes? Not Anymore!

I say if 5% of the people against same sex marriages can do this, then God Bless-The bible argument STAYS!

I betcha anti-gay activist would be more apt to give up their right to marry then give up eating Bacon!

& If we are going to site part of a scripture to deny another's lifestyle then I think its important to follow ALL of that same scripture as a way of life. Or else it's hypocritical...
& a futile argument!

The Old Testament:

You think you Know what the word Know means! But we don't KNOW nothing about KNOWING about K-N-O-W!

In Genesis 19:5-"And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where [are] the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them."

Those arguing that homosexuality is a sin believe that by Know, the Sodomites meant have Sex with the strange men. Others say that Know in this instance means, Introduce us to him so we can interrogate him.

(Yikes!!! HORNDOGS to see the harmless word Know as sexual! See yesterdays post! ;)

In the Old Testament the word Know is used almost 1,000 times & only 13 times it was used as a euphemism for sex.

Here is the problem: 3 verses after the above verse, the word KNOW is used to mean sex:
When Lot says "which have not KNOWN man"-he means his daughters are virgins...
"Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing.... —Genesis 19:8

Now, in my mind it's like using the word seeing. I'm seeing this guy which means I am dating this guy. But when you say to someone I will be seeing you next week that translation doesn't mean: Next week I will have SEX with you?!?!

Words are said & meant differently ALL the time!!!

I think this anti-gay argument is a stretch..

But...

Let's move on...

In the Old Testament there are 2 anti-gay verses often sited from Leviticus Chapters 18-20 contain the following verses:
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." Leviticus 20:13

These 2 verses which form part of the Holiness Code from Leviticus are sited as proving that God is anti-gay.

Hmm..

These are the same Holiness Codes that Jesus refused to do himself.

Luke 11:37
"And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he did not first washed before dinner. And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also? But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you. But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgement and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. "

Jesus denied the Holiness Code of Leviticus so how could it be okay for a Christian today to use any part of it in an argument?



Let's move on to the New Testament:

In the New Testament this is one of two explicit references which is considered anti-gay:

1 Corinthians 6:9
"Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated? No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

AND...

This is the second explicit reference in the New Testament that is anti-gay:
Romans 1 26-27
"For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due."

SOOO...

In the New Testament...

BOTH anti-gay passages were written by Paul.

Hmm...

& why are we listening to ONE MAN?

ONE MAN?!?!

And this ONE MAN...

Paul,
Had terrible things to say about woman:
1 Corinthians 14:34-35
"Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."

Paul who also, sent letters to an Entire Governing State: "A letter from Paul to the Corinthians"-

Could you imagine us doing that! "A letter from Becky to New Yorkers. "

Talk about being an EGO maniac!!!

This is ONE man's voice. The bible by definition is a collection of books. Many different books. Why only one man in one book is being sited most doesn't make sense.


Anyways...What is the purpose of all of this really?!?

Why are we even considering a Religion based argument against gay marriage when we are talking about the legal right to marry?

This Country, the United States of America was united in this One idea: RELIGIOUS FREEDOM.

What the F*ck is Religion doing in my politics?

I am a very spiritual person! God Save This Queen is a spirituality blog. Based around the spirit!

But...

Here is where people get turned off on Religion & spirituality: When it's being USED poorly in arguments. People don't remember Jesus' beautiful works :( They remember how in the name of religion an entire group was isolated, picked on, & told they were LESS THAN.

There are 152 anti-gay words in the verses used to "prove" that God disapproves of homosexuality. 152 words out of the 774,746 words in the bible.

Why choose these words?

To USE these words to make God's Children feel bad about themselves. It's sad.

Ps: Jesus really never said anything about Gays?
