I remember the days when the Village was a scary place at night.
Where you couldn't walk in parks, ever.
The Bowery really was a place drunks hung out.
NYC was gritty.
Baby carriages were rarely an accessory.
People clutched their purses.
The people scape of NYC has since changed.
Rudy Giuliani created the change.
Bloomberg is sustaining it.
I miss the old hot NYC nights.
Watching as the heat waves rose over the hot blacktop of the streets.
Where you could smell the gasoline, the curbs were littered, & every few blocks there was a hydrant to jump in :)))
You were dared to skate through Tompkins Park with bandits around fire barrels.
That vibe of at any point things could turn ugly.
The feeling like the streets were beasts and there was an unknown terror.
Where graffiti art was an excuse to get out of the house & ride the train cars to Coney Island.
Hip hop blasting from any Cool Moe D with a shoulder to hold his radio.
Everyone had personality!
Whatever your poison you could find the neighborhood & block to accommodate.
Today, NYC is clean. The people are safe. The untamed beast is left untouched. She is teasing us to create a movement bigger than ourselves. She is BOOORED.
As we all are.
Take an old school chance on NYC.
Stake your claim!
What's your poison?
What's your art?
I'm bringing back the danger of NYC.
This is my summer to BRING IT back
NYC style ;)
Xoxo
