It was AMAZEBALLS.
But...
Very Coooooooooold.
I was a member of THE Bike Gang for 2013 into 2014
;)

We all met under the arch of Washington Square Park at 10:00pm. The leader of THE Bike Gang wore a red glitter top hat. He gave a speech stating that this was an important ride for each of us to take back our city. "We met in a public park without getting a permit and we will ride through our streets without permits to enjoy OUR public space!"
At 10:45 we rode up 5th avenue towards 14th street. We made a right and quick left onto 4th Ave leading up Park Avenue. At 23rd Street we made a left. Straight towards Madison Park where we had our next pick up. One of the gang had a boom box in her front milk carton bike basket. Her play list ranged from Cool & the Gang to Queen to Michael Jackson.
THE Bike Gang rode up 6th avenue with music BLASTING!!!
Around 40th Street we had 4 Police escort scooters that helped block off traffic as we rode up towards Central Park. Right onto 57th and a quick left on Madison Avenue. On up to 79th Street then made a left into the park.
THE Bike Gang rode through Central Park :)...
Where a green marching band Welcomed us at Belvedere Castle!!!
We danced until the count down...
Five
Four
Three
Two
One
Happy New Year!!!
Fireworks went off as we shivered.
We jumped back on our bikes to head back home :)
Today, how did you spend your NYE?!? Like me, are you still recouping a WEEK later?!?!
I had a theory years ago that however you spent your NYE was an indication of how your next year was to be spent. And it stuck bc I never bartended again on NYE. Since then how I chose to spend my eve became very important in defining what I wanted my next year to be filled with. My Bike Gang was a very NYC NYE. It was an athletic rebellion through the streets.
My silly wish for 2014 ;)
Xoxo
