Damn.

That is good. 

Hmm...

Lately, I've been slacking on this one. 

Making snide remarks. 

Pointing out the odd thing. That I think I'm helping make better. Or worse...

"Calling it out." Is what it's called in the Improv Comedy world. 

"Call out the interesting thing/game/deal." 

All of the improv schools are teaching it.

But...

I believe it's gone from an honest acknowledgement, to a SNARKY commentary. 

Yikes! 

My least favorite Comedy is the disengaged, detached, judgey kind. 

There's no vulnerability. 

No truth. 

Laziness, really. 

Just humans being to cool for school. 

Critics.

Cynics.

BOOOOOOOORRRRRIIIING. 

When I heard this quote from Brene Brown it made me say to myself...

"Oh sh*t. I gotta get in on that. & hellaluja!" All in one quick swift feeling. 

Remember when Daria the cartoon character, that came out in 1997, was the only one. 

We could see her image and know what deadpan response was coming next. 

Now, EVERYONE thinks this is What's only funny. 

My adorable little niece, resembles Daria. She cocks her head and says: "Aunt Betsy. Really? Really?" 

Today, are you the Daria of your crew?!? 

Huh...

Gotta be honest. 

I'm not with my crew. 

But...

I think I am the Daria with my husband.  

I'm the one that says: "Really,  (Insert snarky observation.) Really?!"

Going to consciously work on Brene's pledge.

"I contributed more than I criticized."

No one wants to hang out with Daria. 

Don't be the Daria.
