PUNK ROCK SELF-HELP

“To build a Home.”

Thursday, October 5, 2017

I was in Yoga 2 days ago, and this song came on and tears started rolling down my face.

I keep my eyes closed in Yoga most of the class. It’s a spiritual experience for me.
This song encompassed all I was feeling. I couldn’t grasp the words. The rhythm matched mine.
“I built a Home.
For you.
For me.”

Tears...

Streaming.

Never told my fellow Queens & Kings this but, it’s hard for me to cry. I can cry. Tear production is rare. I cried so much last year that I am all teared out. Seriously. It’s extremely difficult for me to have the water works. So...

You can imagine my surprise when tears won’t stop.

My Yoga teacher graciously ignored it. She saw me and chose not to address. I was grateful.

After, class I asked and she said the song is “To Build a Home.”

To Build a Home
Lyrics
“There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home
'Cause, I built a home
For you
For me
Until it disappeared
From me
From you
And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust
Out in the garden where we planted the seeds
There is a tree as old as me
Branches were sewn by the color of green
Ground had arose and passed it's knees
By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When the gusts came around to blow me down
I held on as tightly as you held onto me
I held on as tightly as you held onto me
And, I built a home
For you
For me
Until it disappeared
From me
From you
And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust”

Today, How many Homes have you built, slaved over, meticulously upkept and designed to make all who loved with you comfortable only to have it turn to dust?

*lived with you.

Xoxo
