Happy Thanksgiving!

Pilgrims arrived in Plymouth in 1620 after a long arduous journey. They endured hardships but managed to survive. Greatly, bc of the help of Squanto, a Wampanoag Indian man. Squanto taught the Pilgrims how to fish, grow corn, and farm the land.

A year later in August of 1621, the Pilgrims held a harvest feast to celebrate the fruits of their farming efforts and to honor the bounty of the Wampanoag Indians.

Our modern celebration most closely resembles this celebration.

For 391 years, the United States of America has celebrated Thanksgiving. Most unknowingly in observation of the kind actions of a single man, Squanto.
