Also, I have encountered the most pushy HARD selling locals then any other place I have visited.
PV is a VERY Catholic city.
Saint Guadalupe cathedral is in the center of the downtown square. Most locals wear religious medallions on their necks, wrists, key chains...
It was the most interesting dichotomy of religion and gritty salesyness.
I was looking to find a St. Guadalupe
necklace. Along the way, merchants stopped to give the HARD sell for Mexican wrestler masks or corona bags. When I asked where I could find the Catholic store for the Saint's medallion, the salesman dropped the sales pitch, & became Very serious. It was the most interesting thing!!! The authority just the mention of a Catholic store had over them.
This happened in multiple shops while in my pursuit of THE Catholic store.
The day before I asked where a restaurant was & every merchant pushed HARD to redirect me.
Not with THE Catholic store.
There were no $ales pitch.
One guy walked me out of the store & down towards the street to make sure I found my way there.
Was it the fear of God?
Was it that we shared something?
Was it that they felt "unholy" pushing someone "holy"? Or anyone at all?!
Dunno...
Today, when was the last time a salesman's "$ales Pitch" changed bc they learned something about you?! Do you find it saleable? Or did it utterly disgust you?
Xoxo
