"History is passed down in food more than words!"
This is an EZ recipe I perfected!
It's healthy!!!
& YUM :)))

Trader Joe's:
Onions chopped fresh in a container
Vegetarian Italian Sausage
Peppers mixture frozen
Pizza Dough fresh
Parmesan Cheese
1 egg
Sesame Seeds

In a pot, drizzle some olive oil and add the container of fresh onions. Let the onions get a glossy glaze on their skin then add the chopped up veggie sausage. Stirring continuously. Once the sausage is halfway cooked add the bag of peppers. Continue to stir the mix. Add salt and pepper & let it cook for some time. Check the sausage, when the skin on the sausage is curled at the edges they are cooked. Take the pot off of the heat.

In the meantime, on the counter you have left the pizza dough out for sometime to let the dough rise. This happens when the dough expands in the bag. If you don't have time for the dough to rise, it's fine. Ideally, you would have left the dough in room temperature long enough to rise. But, sometimes, Gosh Darn It, we just don't have the time!

So, take the dough & roll it out with a rolling pin. Spread the dough to be as wide as it can be without making it to thin. It should be about 1/2" thick.

At the corner of the dough, any corner, use a spoon and spread the sausage mixture onto the dough in a line. Use about one sausage width of mix. Add Parmesan cheese to the top of the line. Take the dough & roll it onto it self over the sausage line. Add more sausage mix, sprinkle with cheese. Roll the dough again over the line of sausage mixture. Add more sausage mix, sprinkle with cheese. Roll the dough again over the line of sausage mixture. Do this until there is no more dough to roll into.

Yay! You have created a Stromboli. Which is dough/meat/dough/meat/dough/...

Now take the Stromboli & flip it over to make sure that the seam is underneath. Tuck both ends of the Stromboli under as well. This ensures that the seam will not open while cooking.

Take the egg yolk, & wipe the outside of the dough. Sesame seeds may be sprinkled on top as well.

Viola!

Place in the oven. The sausage has already been cooked so its just browning the dough & melting all the goodness together. Shouldn't take long! I am terrible at timing things. I just peak in to see what color it should be ;)

Cook at 350 degrees until you smell it :)

You now have Successfully made my mom Barb's famous Stromboli with Betsy's new Vegetarian Sausage twist ;)

Today, eat well! Take a food tradition & add your own spin to it!

Eat up! & Listen...
