I'm terrible at asking people for things.
Seriously.
EW!
I'm having an extra hard time with this part of the Wedding planning process...
Bc I look at the price tag and think "Gosh, this is toooooo expensive for anyone to buy for me!"
At first I registered for goofy cheap utensils that I couldn't wait to use!
Then I got scolded at by the bridal hen at Macy's. She said I wasn't being respectful of my guests. That I needed to have a range of gifts in different prices to be considerate.
Bridal hens cluck around the store making sure you are purchasing enough items. Putting their beaks where they don't belong. ;)
Ugh...I began adding more stuff!
Hens said it still wasn't ENOUGH!!!
EW!
Makes me feel ICKY.
They gave me a sheet to break down how many gifts I should register for within each price range.
I am grateful that I have people in my life who Love me and want me to have nice things :)
But having a hen tell me I'm being disrespectful by not giving them guidance on how to spend $ on me didn't sit well :(
AND...
A number of different bridal hens at different department stores told me not to register for individual pots but to register for full sets of pots bc then I could return them & keep the money.
I told her I only wanted to register for the stuff I really needed and the hens responded that thats not the way bridal registry works.
EW!
I had to shift my thinking from where the hens wanted me to concentrate to what I NEEDED.
I shifted my thinking to Utilitarian.
I walked through my house and wrote down everything I would replace if I had the money. Hence my Registry!!!
I can not wait to get rid of crappy old Ikea pots!
& replace them with brand spanking new Calphalon pots!
My old scrunched up pillow!
& replace them with a new FLUFFY!
Ditch my plastic toxic seeping containers!
& replace them with new glass containers! Yay!
If you are reading this, and have read my registry, know that everything on it was specially picked to make my life better!
Today, hens come in all forms. The "shoulds." They will peck around you. Nudge you to cluck in their direction. ESPECIALLY during wedding planning! Keep your wedding sacred. It is YOUR Day to do whatever the DUCK you want to do :)
GSTQ may be your haven for henpecked brides to come enJOY!
Xoxo
