PUNK ROCK SELF-HELP

Comedians, our National Treasures

Monday, August 18, 2014

Losing comedians is always tough.

I think about Bernie Mac.

He is one of my favorites.

Richard Pryor.
Too many more to mention by name...
Man, what are we gonna do when we lose Bill Cosby or Steve Martin?!?

They are our legends.
They let us into their minds to see what they think is funny about the world.

When we lose them, we lose their particular point of view on the world.

And that just sucks.

Bc it's like Hmm...I wonder what Bernie would say about that.

National Treasures. Really.

Robin William's death is hitting hard.

I have been in a bit of a FUNK Bc of it.

Michael Ian Black said it best:
"We lose one great comic to suicide or ODs every year. Our jobs are to communicate, but we seem to not know how to ask for help."

As a Comedian, it is our job to articulate our ideas so others can understand what exactly we are trying to say.

Communication is KEY.

Although...
Funny is a cloak worn to cover the rawness sometimes.

Hidden skill that we use to deflect off of ourselves.

Hide the past hurts. Bounce em pains right off!

Today, R.I.P. Robin it's been a week since you died.

Are you guys still as sad as I am?!? I feel such deep pangs of grief. HOW he chose to end his life is a major factor in my glum.

Wish he had known he was our National Treasure ALL along!

Why do we wait till someone is dead to host their wake?!?!

We should have celebrated his life while he had a life. Now, he is gone and all we can hope for is that he found peace within himself.

Xoxo
