PUNK ROCK SELF-HELP

Happy Passover! Celebrate! & Decorate!!!

Saturday, April 23, 2016

Always look for decorations to celebrate the holidays.

Jewish holidays are always neglected.

Chatted with my husband, who is Jewish, about Passover.

And I told him what I was taught in Catholic School. God came to Moses and told him in order to protect the oldest Jewish born sons from death they needed to paint lambs blood on their doorways. Miraculously, it worked!!!

Adam confirmed that's what he learned too. We both remembered it in the Moses movie. Googled it and we both were right!*

Fun how the stories we were told as we grew up overlapped. There's stuff he can teach me and stuff about Jesus I teach him.

That's the beauty of celebrating diversity and acceptance.

I told him since the stores don't sell Passover decorations I'm probably going to have to make them. He didn't believe me that they don't sell any.

I scoured Online, visited Michaels (who still has Christmas & Easter stickers but no Jewish stars grrrr), Party City....Everywhere!!!

No one had anything. They had seder stuff for kids to use like hand puppets but NO decorations.

Being a Shiksa, who loves to decorate for holidays I made my own :)))

And I told him I was going to hang blood.

He said he bet me a massage date that I wouldn't go through all the trouble of creating Passover decorations.

I did :)))

Might look GOREY.
But, this is the truth.
A lamb was murdered.
It's blood was painted on the doorways of panicked parents.

Today, what have you escaped recently?!? It could be as simple as the office stomach flu. Doesn't have to be frogs raining from the sky! Like the Jews encountered and all the plagues.

Ponder this...
If someone told you to put blood on your doorway would you?
Sounds outrageous.
But...
The people that had faith in what they were being told and did it.
And their oldest sons escaped unscathed.

Or maybe you think this is all stories that can't be proven as factual. And to that I say, that's cool. No presh! You can still relate. A friends advice might have been to try this great supplement when you had a cold or not to do something and you didn't.

The point is, we need each other. The stories of our religions. The time we spend together. The ability to listen. And be compassionate.

This is is the time to learn from the Jews. By Freeing ourselves from whatever enslaves.

Take a minute to think of this past year and something you escaped.

How does it feel to be on the other side?!?!

What's next for you to free yourself from?

Man...this is a good one to noodle ;)

Xoxo
