PUNK ROCK SELF-HELP

If I was a man...

If I was a man,
the older Police Officer would have taken the police report without hesitation.

If I was a man, he wouldn't have raised his voice and said he saw no damage to my car so if I "really" was hurt to call an ambulance.

If I was a man,
when I told him I just wanted the report Bc Geico said we always need one as proof of the accident, he would have believed me.

If I was a man,
and I told him all I wanted was the Police report in case I felt any injuries this week, he would have taken the report.

If I was a man,
and I told the Police Officer that I understood there was no damage to our cars but I just wanted a Police report in case my back hurt later he would have accepted it.

If I was a man,
the other driver who hit me from behind who's fault the accident was, wouldn't have told me that both of our insurances will go up and urge me to ask the Police Officers. Then to be told by the younger Police Officer that only his insurance would go up.

If I was a man,
I wouldn't have had to tell the Police Officer again that I just wanted the Police report.

If I was a man,
I wouldn't have had to tell the Police Officer to please stop raising his voice with me.

If I was a man,
The Police Officer wouldn't have said "You don't know how any of this works."

If I was a man,
The police report would be taken. Information exchanged.

If I was a man,
Rear ended from the car behind while waiting for a light, the Police Officers would acknowledge that it was no fault of my own.

If I was a man,
Being belittled would be foreign to me.

If I was a man,
I wouldn't be crying. Long after leaving the scene of the accident.

If I was a man,
I wouldn't be writing this poem right now.

If I was a man.

Today, Sexism lately?!?

Been thinking a lot about this.

"Sexism starts in the home."

That's a slogan I'm working on ;)

Xoxo
