Watched the entire season of the reality tv show, “Worlds toughest race”on Amazon. It just released on August 14th. We barreled through it!

It was soooo good!

Super interesting to watch the mental battlefields that contestants went through. And how the 4 teammates dynamics affected the overall success of the team.

One phrase that kept coming up was, “We are like a family.” But, it wasn’t in reference to happy times and bliss. Rather, it was in reference to hard times and being stuck together in an adventure.

Turned to my lover, and said,

“YIKES.”

Family is synonymous with being stuck with people you don’t want to be stuck with but, happiness and triumph happens too.

Listen closely next time someone says that phrase.

It’s like the real underlying message of we are stuck together and it’s not always good.

Super interesting.

Bc I actually like being stuck with my tribe.

Yeah, they cray.

But...

So, am I!

& I like it.

Also, interesting is that whenever I watch these kinda shows I always think I could win if I had my athletic siblings with me.

Like with strangers or friends you just can’t boss them around like you can a family member.

Bc of the history.

Guess thats just it.

The history of being stuck together when you don’t want to be is what makes it strong. Then you can talk short hand with them. And get sh*t done.

But...

Also, noticed the top team that won, New Zealand πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ never said they were “Like a Family.” They were more like a corporate team.

Hmm...maybe the phrase, “Like a family,” dismisses and enables poor behavior?!?

Today, When you think of the term “We are like family” what do you think?!!

In team dynamics I think we have each other’s back and don’t let each other down but, also we fight sometimes too.

In reference to knowing someone and saying, “We are like family.” I think it’s in reference to knowing them a long time and really know knowing someone.

Guess, the undertones are the same.

Super interesting thing to unpack.

Watch the show and see how many times it’s said to explain team dynamics.

Does it explain your team/family dynamics?
