What an amazing book.
Amy opened her heart up and said exactly what I needed to hear.
Her Comedy travels, I followed. Not knowingly Bc we didn't know each other at the times.
The places/bars/cafes she performed in, I have too.
I felt a kinship too her.
Lots of similar coincidences...
I just re-listened to my Pema Chadron CD a week before beginning to read Yes Please.
How'd she know that?!? ;)
I was clinging on to the shore like Pema says...
Amy's book was my way of choosing to be in the middle of the water. :)
Acutely funny and real.
Hearing her speak of her sons is inspiring. Her wishes for her boys are gorgeous.
Divorce talk was handled with Grace. Utter respect. Flawlessly classy. -Almost (disgustingly) makes we want to google to find out WHY they broke up?!
We both share the same terror and resistance to the interweb.
The way she personifies her phone is nothing short of a case study, college thesis, doctorate that I would Preach.
Yes Please reads more like a self-help book then a comedian's memoir.
Amy ended Yes Please thanking another person.
That was her ending.
Powerful stuff!
I get why she is where she is.
The magic of Amy.
She is herself.
She is generous enough to herself, to let her be herself.
Meanwhile, allowing all around her to embrace themselves too!
Magic.
Amy magic!
I was an Amy Poehler fan before Yes Please.
Now, I'm a devotee ;)
Today, Yes Please. Even the title says it all. She asks for what she wants politely and gets it!
I'm always a bit scared of reading people's books I admire.
What if it turns out their stupid or mean?!? Or douchey even?!?
Not Amy.
She is regular.
Regular magic ;)
Xoxo
Ps: Moon hunting at night sounds like the coolest!!!
