This was a fun Crafty Craft!'n
Supplies you'll need to make 30 bars of magical soap:
-2: Olive Oil Glycerin Soap 2lbs packages ($10 each)
-1: Lavender Oil 0.17 fl oz. (Young & Living $25)
-1: Dried Lavender bushel (L'Occitane)
-Big Pyrex measuring Cup (Bed Bath & Beyond $8)
-Silicone Heart Form ,Wilton ($10)
-Sharp Knife
-Utensil to stir
-Wax paper
Step 1:
Wash the Lavender Bushel. Let dry for a bit. Now, this is the most annoyingest part of the process...Pull the buds off of the Lavender stems. Towards the end I was meditating into the pain.
(I'm a dumbass... a quick Google search and I found a zillion places to buy organic Lavender buds. Grrr...)
Step 2:
Cut the soap block in half. Then cut the half into smaller blocks. Put the smaller soap blocks into the Pyrex. Try to line them all up so each one is touching the glass bottom. Melt the soap in the Microwave at 30 second intervals. Take out of the microwave after each interval and stir. Once, the soap is 100% liquid it's done.
Step 3:
(During the heating intervals...)Line the bottom of the hearts with Lavender buds. Enough to cover the bottom where you can't see much red.
Step 3:
Pour the liquid soap into the hearts. Slow pouring makes a swirl affect in the soap. Fast pouring creates air bubbles that need to be stirred out. Both look beautiful! Just depends on what you like more :) *
On both designs be sure to use the utensil to submerge all of the Lavender buds & scrape the sides to make sure the soap is neat.
Step 4:
Let the liquid soap dry. The soap darkens when it's dried and it's solid looking when it's done.
Line your workspace with wax paper. Take the heart and push down on the bottom V part of the heart first. The top will pop out easily then. When I tried pushing out from the top I smushed the top lumps of the heart :/. The trick is to unfold it from the V.
Step 5:
Use your finger to smear the edges perfectly. Make sure the underbelly is smooth too!
That's it!
Ooh...& add the magic...
Today, SOAP it up :)))
Making Christmas gifts has been so much fun and gratifying.
What's the magical part?!?!
...
I think about the person as I make their soap. I put good, beautiful, intentions into each bar :)
All it takes is one trip to Michaels and you can DO THIS!!!
Ps: *the darker soap is the one I mixed to make the Lavender buds even. The lighter ones are the slow poured ones.
